Week 1: Biography
I am a third year here at UCSB as a FAMST major and play on the Water Polo team. I am from Santa Barbara, CA and as my last education, I previously went to Santa Barbara High School. For work experience, I have done internships for camps and companies in small teams creating films and short documentaries. I have also worked for my high schools Multi-Media Art and Design Academy freshman year of college in data and tech organization. I have used Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier, but do not have any other experience in glitch art.
Assignment 1: Image Collection
Assignment 3: Processing
Assignment 3: First Attempt
Reattempting this model glitch on Blender has been a different kind of difficult….After attempting to manually move the vertices around along with a couple text edit modifications, my monkey came out to look like this.
After some time I decided to move on and for the 5th time attempt to finish the Texture Map Glitching tutorial. The tutorial gives key points, however there are multiple steps missing on how to do certain things or where the menus are on the program.
I found this video,
which did help a bit on how to convert an image from a .jpg file into an .obj, which basically converts the image into a texture plane making it a flat 3d file.
Finally was able to convert the image into a textured grid with vertices to glitch, but unable to export the actual file to a viewable picture, therefore I took a screenshot of the actual blender program.
Assignment 4: Soundscapes
Here is my first go at using Audacity to data bend an image of Santa Barbara (only adding the effect of Reverb)
In class we had experienced an internet failure in the middle of out time frame, causing class to end early. In todays age our society is so reliant on the internet and technology that when we experience errors like these, it glitches our whole system. Not only did this effect our class to end early, but it caused our entire school system to shut down online. This not only taught me the gratitude of internet failures, but how to adapt to glitches and enjoy them in a way. Thinking outside our regular routines in order to get our work done.
Assignment 5: Datamoshing
